Houdini will be the first open-access software-defined radio system that will simultaneously support multiple radio modules and be sample-synchronous across diverse bands, i.e. CBRS (3.55-3.7 GHz), X-band (8-12 GHz), Ku-band (12-16 GHz), Ka-band (26.5-28.35 GHz) and V-band (57-68 GHz); Houdini will allow modular expansion of radio front-ends, and multiple Houdini nodes can be combined to form custom mega-nodes that will be able to simultaneously address 10-100s of antennas across the four bands.
MoreHoudini will provide capabilities that will be several steps ahead of existing platforms, and thereby empower the community to experimentally explore research in new directions in wireless networking, sensing and imaging. By building one platform that could address the needs of many research communities, the platform will also spur collaboration between diverse research communities. To support multiple research communities, the project will develop open-source libraries to support research in wireless networking, sensing, and imaging.
